The YP Council

The Eugene Young Professionals Council is a dynamic group of young leaders committed to the positive growth of the community, the YP group, and its members. Meet the current chairs below.

Todd Waters

Todd was born in Eugene and spent the first 18 years of his life here prior to heading South to seek out warmer weather and to enroll at the University of Arizona. He and his wife recently returned home to Eugene and getting plugged back into the community has been an important step in reacclimating to life here. The Young Professionals Network has been a major cornerstone in that effort.

Caitlin Vargas

Caitlin has a background in workforce development, project leadership, social services and fundraising. Having recently completed her MBA, Caitlin works with several local advocacy groups geared towards leadership initiatives for young professionals. On the weekends Caitlin shuttles around her 4 young children to their sports games while attempting to fit in an adventure or two!

Tom Stewart

Tom Stewart is C.O.O. of LS Pharma, an early-stage biotech company. Previously, Tom was a member of the Senior Relationship Management team at Morgan Stanley in New York City. Tom earned a degree in Economics from Princeton University in 2013. Tom has successfully passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program and may be awarded the charter upon completion of the required work experience. Tom grew up in Eugene.

Larissa Straily

Larissa graduated from Thurston High School then moved to the desert to attend UNLV, earning her BS in Hospitality Management & Event Planning. In 2014 after 7 years away, Larissa returned back to her roots in Eugene. Larissa loves being involved with the YP network and is passionate about YPs finding their place in our community.

Casia Chappell

Casia grew up in Eugene and returned in 2010 after graduating from the University of Puget Sound with degrees in International Relations and French Literature. Casia joined Sapient Private Wealth Management in 2012 and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) designations. Most weekends she can be found skiing, fishing, or running somewhere in Oregon.

Mary Mackey

A San Francisco native, Mary first moved to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon. Post-graduation, she spent 3 years in the Bay Area start-up scene before returning to Eugene to be with her (now) husband. No longer a college student, Mary immediately recognized the difficulty of being a local YP – not knowing where to plug-in or how to meet people. After experiencing these challenges first-hand, Mary is dedicated to helping other Young Professionals find their place and make meaningful connections.
